Enter the motor rating and how long the machine runs each day to see what it adds to your factory's electricity bill on a Pakistani industrial tariff.

Power & running cost

What this machine adds to your factory's electricity bill.

Total of all motors: spindle, pumps, chiller.

%

60 to 80% for normal cutting.

Operating pattern

Peak is the 4-hour evening window (about 5pm to 9pm in winter, 6pm to 10pm in summer).

How this is calculated

  1. 1

    Convert the rating to kW

Horsepower is converted at 1 HP = 0.746 kW. The average load setting accounts for the fact that motors rarely draw their full rated power all day.

  2. 2

    Split peak and off-peak hours

Industrial connections are billed on time of use. Hours inside the evening peak window (roughly 5pm to 9pm in winter, 6pm to 10pm in summer) are charged at the higher peak rate.

  3. 3

    Add fixed charges

Fixed charges are billed per kW of load every month, whether the machine runs or not. We use the machine's own load so you see its share.

  4. 4

    Add taxes and surcharges

Sales tax, electricity duty and other levies are added as a percentage of the energy and fixed charges. Copy the effective figure from a recent bill for best accuracy.

Frequently asked questions

Which tariff should I select?

Most workshops and small factories on a 400V connection up to 500 kW are on B-2. Factories supplied at 11 kV or 33 kV are usually B-3, and very large plants on 66 kV or 132 kV are B-4. Your tariff code is printed on your electricity bill.

Are the default rates current?

They are indicative starting values. NEPRA revises industrial rates and fuel adjustments regularly, so for an accurate figure copy the peak and off-peak rates from your own latest bill into the calculator.

What average load should I use?

Around 60 to 80 percent suits most CNC routers, lathes and milling machines in normal cutting. Compressors and injection molding machines that run flat out can be closer to 90 percent. Use 100 percent for a worst case.

Does this include generator or solar power?

No. It prices grid electricity only. If part of your load runs on solar or a generator, reduce the operating hours to the grid-powered share.
